Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation - Presentation

In 1985 and at the initiative of HRH the late Prince Faisal Fahd Abdulaziz, President of Saudi Arabia’s General Presidency of Youth Welfare, the OIC (Organization of Islmaic Cooperation) invited the NOCs and Youth and Sports governmental organizations in Muslim countries to attend the constituent assembly for the foundation of the I.S.S.F in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In reference to Resolution # 7/3-C of the Third Islamic Summit Conference held in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Taif from 19 to 22 Rabi-Ul-Awwal, 1401H (25-28 January, 1981) calling for the formation of a specialized organization for the development of sport and organization of sport events in OIC member states; In fulfillment of this aspiration, the foundation of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation was declared at the constituent conference held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 18 Shaban 1405 (8 May 1985) with the participation of the representatives of 34 national Olympic committees.

History of collaboration between CNOSC and ISSF

Since the establishment of the ISSF, the CNOSC of Cameroon has taken part each edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games and of the management of the institution. His actual President is His Royal Highness Abdulaziz Bin Turki ALFAISAL AL SAUD. Mr. HAMAD KALKABA MALBOUM is vice-president of the ISSF since 2013.

Konya 2021

The 5th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games will be held in Turkey. Decided to take place in 2021, this edition has been postponed in 2022 due to the spread and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Get more details on https://issf.sa/

About the first edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Africa : Yaoundé 2025

20 years after the first edition of the ISG, the athletes of the member countries of the OIC will come to Africa to participate to the 6th edition in Cameroon. On the 15th of April 2021, the Sports Federation of Islamic Solidarity (ISSF) announced that its 2025 Games will take place in Cameroon. "It was decided to postpone the Konya Games [in Turkey, Editor's note] 2021 to the year 2022 and to accept Cameroon's candidature file to host the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games", one reads in a press release of the ISSF.
